IIUI to host
Conference on Tashkent - the Capital of Islamic Culture today
ISLAMABAD—The
International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with
the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Society of Asian
Civilizations Pakistan is hosting a two-day conference on 4th and 5th
September, 2007 to revive the past glory of Tashkent - the Capital of
Islamic Culture.
The conference will be held at the Auditorium of the University, Faisal
Mosque Campus, Islamabad. Professor Shoisiom Akmalov, Vice Rector,
Tashkent Islamic University, Uzbekistan, Professor Dr. Zakhidullah
Munovvarov, Chairman, “Imam al-Bukhari” Scientific-Educational Centre of
the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor Dr. Mukhaya Abdul Rehman, Tashkent
Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan, Mr.Akber Ozgen, Chairman,
Pak-Uzbek Society, Rawalpindi and other scholars from home and abroad to
addressing its various sessions on civilization and culture of
Uzbekistan and other Central Asian states.
On the first day of the conference (4th September, 2007) opening session
will be held at 10.00 AM. It will be addressed by Dr. Anwar Hussain
Siddiqui, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad, Mr.
Oybek Arif Usman, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Dr. Z. A. Qureshi, President
and Professor Dr. Razia Sultana, Founder Member of the Society of Asian
Civilizations, Pakistan. First Academic session of the opening day will
focus on History, culture and Identity Question and will start at 11.20
AM. Professor Dr. Zakhidullah Munovvarov, Chairman, “Imam al-Bukhari”
Scientific-Educational Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Navid
Zafar, a Pakistan Researcher and Dr. Ihsan Ali, Vice Chancellor, Hazara
University, Mansehra will present their papers on various aspects of
civilization and culture of the Central Asia with special focus on
Uzbekistan and Tashkent.—Online
