Petroleum
dealers call off strike
ISLAMABAD—The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has deferred their
strike for one month after discussions with the officials of the
ministry of petroleum here on Saturday.
President of the Association, Abdul Sami Khan told newsmen in Islamabad
that they have deferred the strike only in the interest of consumers. He
further said that the dealers could not earn the profit at the rate of
five per cent due to various taxes and it has been demanded to maintain
the rate of profit at five per cent for dealers under an agreement with
the ministry of petroleum in 1994.
Abdul Sami Khan said that dealers are getting the profit of one rupee
one paisa per litre and in this connection, the government’s figures of
Re 1.35 per litre is not correct. Secretary Petroleum Farrukh Qayyum
told Geo News that after the meeting with the oil marketing companies,
demands of dealers would be sent through a summary to the cabinet. He
said that a model formula summary in this connection would be prepared
