Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—Former prime minister of Azad Kashmir and Peoples’ Muslim
League president Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry on Saturday alleged
that (Sardar) Attiq & Company had intensions to make the city of Neela
but as crown city.
While addressing a press conference, along with Lord Nazir Ahmad, a
member of British House of Lords and member of Kashmiri Fund, at his
residence, the former premier has stressed on Pakistan to abandon its
apologetic policy on Kashmir issue.
He said that in the Post 9/11 scenario, both Pakistan and India have
initiated composite dialogue, but, without the proper participation of
the primary party, the Kashmiris, without whom any resolutions or
negotiations will never bear any fruits.
“Kashmir problem should be resolved, according to the will of locals”,
he demanded. “The WAPDA is trying to temper the agreed amount of Rs 1.5
b for the Mangla dam affectees. Now, this amount has been allocated for
the construction of the Avenue Mujahid- e-Awwal road and Neela Butt
Stadium”.
The Kashmiri political leader disclosed that it had given ultimatum of
3rd September to government to withdraw its anti-masses plans.
Otherwise, protests would be staged in which Lord Nazir will also join
hands. ‘We can Even, go ‘to the extent of’ provoking civil war’, he
added.
Speaking on his turn, the member of House of Lords, Lord Nazir told that
WAPDA should reconsider its sordid intensions against the locals of
Mirpur, and, federal government should also restore the due budget of
the city.
I will support the planned movement of Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry
“For the rights of people of Mirpur”, he expressed his resolve. While
commenting on dialogue going on between Pakistan and India on Kashmir
issue, he pointed out that India is not projecting its sincerity in
ongoing dialogue, and it continues to create problems in Pakistan
through its Afghan consulates, and strongly demanded that Pakistan
should revert its previous stance on Kashmir rather showing more
palatable attitude. |
