Import of machinery should be at zero rated tariff: Nasir

ISLAMABAD—President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Nasir Khan stressed on the importance of import of machinery at zero rated tariff from Italy and other countries for the enhancement of industrialization.
He expressed these views during a meeting on Friday. He said that Pakistan needs to improve infrastructure to attract to more foreign investment in the country and also to encourage local investment. He emphasized that the Commercial Counsellors appointed should act asgood sales persons that will help boost Pakistan exports.
He added that India is working more aggressively than Pakistan in the International Market, as a result it is becoming successful in increasing export rapidly.
On the other hand, Tasneem Aslam, Ambassador designate of Pakistan to Italy while exchanging views with President ICCI stressed on the importance of creating business linkages with Italian Entrepreneurs for transfer of technology and technical training to people for requirement knowledge of modern technology.
She said that Pakistan produced abundance of fruit andvegetables, but due to lack of processing and preservation of technology, about 40% fruit go wasted. She also high-lighted importance of packing and consistence of supply of goods of International Standards to capture and sustained in the International Market.
She observed of great potential export of marble, mango, rice and gems stones in European Union Markets. If supplied focus on standardization and consistent supply of goods. She assured of creating more business linkages with Italian companies exchanging business relevant information’s to Chambers.
