Civil servants asset of the Country: PM

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that government is proud of the civil servants who are an asset for the country.
The government expects them to act as agents of change to bring about a meaningful change in the life of the people of Pakistan. The Prime Minister was talking to newly promoted Federal secretaries, who met him at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday. The Prime Minister said that federal secretaries play a pivotal role in the success of government policies and development of the country and emphasized that they need to have a clear vision about the goals and targets of their respective ministries and adopt a result oriented approach for speedy decisions and efficient functioning.
The Prime Minister advised the Federal Secretaries to uphold national interest and maintain neutrality and fairness while making decisions and not be influenced by any pressures. He said the government will continue to formulate clear policies to ensure fair and quick decisions.
The Prime Minister said eight years back the country was in a difficult situation, the government has revamped the policies so as proceed on a path of reforms and growth. The future looks good, he said, and now the government is transferring the gains of economic turnaround to the people at the grassroots level. He said the improvement in the economy has given the government the required autonomy in the decision making free of any external pressures. He said the government will continue the reforms process and willensure continuity and consistency in polices.
The government, the Prime Minister said, is focusing on improving the quality of life of the people, poverty alleviation and employment generation. He said civil servants have always played an important role in the entire process of economic turnaround by improving governance and adapting to the new requirements.
