Leadership Development Pragramme concludes at FBS

ISLAMABAD—Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) here on Friday concluded the training course on “Leadership Development Program” with the assistance of Department for International Development (DFID) Pakistan.
The week-long programme was conducted to enhance the professional competency of the senior officers. The main focus of the course was on workshop norms and methodology, importance of vision and mission, strategic framework model and developing powerful vision statements. Besides, deliberations on developing strategic objectives, organizational values, translating values into supporting behaviors, functional strategies, leadership styles, situational leadership model, motivation theory, nature as well as types of rewards and involvement and participation as a Motivation tool were held during the course. Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Secretary, Statistics Division Asad Elahi highlighted the importance of capacity building and leadership development and stressed upon Statistical community to play its role for accelerating the progress of the country. He expressed the hope that the FBS officials would utilize the experience and knowledge gained from the course at their work places to uplift their organizations. He said, “the international trends are fast changing and no one can achieve excellence unless he keeps himself updated with the latest knowledge and information.” He underlined the importance of competitiveness and said, “world do not care for those who fail to compete at appropriate time.” He said that there were ample opportunities of learning and improving knowledge, not only through conventional class room teaching methods but also by using modern facilities. The course coordinator, Faiez H Seyal who is Restructuring Project Manager DFID described the course as very successful and expressed the hope that the participants would utilize the information and experience for the betterment of their respective departments. He said that as many as 13 officers of BPS-19 and above from FBS, ACO and PCO participated in the course. Principal Training Wing Muhammad Younis informed the participants that the training wing had completed 12 training courses with the help of international experts during 2006-07.—APP
