No body can ask to doff Uniform: Elahi

RAWALPINDI—Punjab Chief Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi has said that district government system will stay AND President General Pervez Musharraf will decide about the uniform himself and no one has the right to make any demand in this regard.
He was talking to mediamen at the inaugural ceremony of Rescue Service near Pir Wadahi More, here on Friday.
. Responding to a question about the return of Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister said that he had done nothing worth while during his seven year’s stay abroad. He said that Nawaz Sharif went to Saudi Arabia in accordance with an agreement with Saudi government and stayed at palaces and only gained weight. He said that return of Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan is no problem as we are ready to face him politically.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said that in order to provide immediate help to the citizens in case of accidents or natural disasters, emergency medical rescue and fire service, Rescue 1122 have been launched in Rawalpindi which will be equipped with all necessary facilities. He said that after the success of this project in Lahore and Faisalabad, medical rescue and fire services have been launched simultaneously in Rawalpindi with a cost of Rs.40 crore. He said that the scope of this service will now be extended to southern Punjab as well as other districts of the province. Federal Minister for Railways Sh.Rasheed Ahmad, Provincial Minister for Law and Local Governments Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Professional Management Mushtaq Ahmad Kayani, District Nazim Raja Javed Akhlas, assembly members, Union Nazims, PML office-bearers, workers and notables were present on the occasion.
Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said that setting up of a welfare state is the top priority of the government and it considers every citizen a VIP. Therefore, he said, 250 fully trained rescue workers will remain alert round the clock for providing timely assistance and relief to the victims of fire accidents and natural calamities. He said that the response time of this service is seven minThe Chief Minister further said that the purpose of rescue service is to provide immediate assistance to the humanity as it can help in saving human lives and minimizing financial losses. He said that the staff of rescue service has been imparted special training at the academy and the telephone number and address of the caller is noted through tracking system. He said that due to linkage with satellite system, the movement of ambulance vehicles is continuously monitored on screen and immediate help is ensured. He said that six rescue stations will be established in Rawalpindi and 14 ambulances and five fire brigade vehicles have been provided initially. He said that an aerial turntable ladder, five fire trucks and one rescue and one recovery vehicle will be added to the service.
Ch. Pervaiz Elahi further said that Federal Railway Minister Sh. Rashid Ahmad has provided eight kanal of precious land of Railways for setting up of emergency rescue centers in different areas of Rawalpindi. He said that government has realized the dream of welfare state for solving peoples problems and doctors have been posted in far-flung areas of the province at a monthly salary of Rs.25 thousand. He said that medical facilities are also being provided to children after their medical check up in schools twice a year. The Chief Minister stressed upon Nazims and PML workers to strengthen the party and maintain a constant contact with the people for solution of their problems.
Provincial Minister for Law and Local Government, Muhammad Basharat Raja, in his address, said that launching of mega development projects in Rawalpindi is a historic achievement of Chief Minister Punjab and he has given another gift to the people of the city in the form of emergency rescue service. He said that funds of more than Rs.16 crore have so far been provided for Rawalpindi Cantt. and construction work of girls and boys colleges is in progress speedily.
Director General Punjab Emergency Service Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that 60 thousand persons have been provided relief through the first trained and fully equipped emergency service in Punjab and immediate help and assistance is being provided to the victims of accidents and other calamities.
