Dealers’ strike hits petrol supply
Bureau Report

KARACHI—Citizens are facing much difficulties as petrol pumps were closed due to petroleum dealers’ strike all over the country including Karachi.
Today was the first day of the strike for an indefinite period by the petroleum dealers on reducing the petrol price by 39 paisa per litre.
However, the petrol pumps under oil marketing companies were open but as they are only 10 in number, people faced difficulties to approach them. Many people finished their vehicles’ petrol in search of these pumps.
Analysts said that the price of petrol has been continuously increasing during the last three to four years due to which the per litre profit of the dealers and oil marketing companies has also increased.
However, the dealers said that in the light of continuous increase in prices of various commodities, operating costs and lands, this profit has become unacceptable. Thus the call for the strike for indefinite period cannot be taken back unless the increase in petrol price by 39 paisa per litre is not abolished.
