20 tribesmen held for poppy cultivation

MOHMAND AGENCY—The political administration of Mohmand Agency booked 20 tribesmen for alleged cultivation of poppy crop and put them behind bars for three years.
Officials in the political administration said that they were arrested from Tehsil Prang Ghar (tiger cave) for violating government’s directives. They were sent to Dera Ismail Khan jail for three years imprisonment under FCR. It merits a mention here that huge quantity of poppy has been cultivated in Tehsil Prang Ghar, Tehsil Pendyali and other border areas this year. The government has so far eradicated poppy on one hundred acre kanal piece of land. While, majority of the people has eradicated opium voluntarily. Meanwhile, Tehsildar Prang Ghar, Arshad Ali told that the jail terms of the detained could be extended for seven years if their relatives did not eliminate opium voluntarily.—Online
