DSD completes over 60,000 teachers training

ISLAMABAD—Under the Education Reform Programme, the target of imparting
modern professional training to 60,156 primary school teachers in 12
districts of the province has been achieved
successfully by the Directorate of Staff Development (DSD), Punjab.
These districts included Attock, Okara, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Kasur,
Muzaffargargh, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajan Pur,
Sargodha, and Sheikhupura. Giving briefing to the media at the
conclusion of the whole training process on Friday, Acting Additional
Director, DSD, Yasir Pirzada, said that the training was completed in
two phases.
In the first phase, he said, the Lead Teacher Educators trained total
1,404 District Teacher Educators (DTEs) at the 702 Cluster Training and
Support Centers established in these districts.
According to the district-wise break-up of data, 128 DTEs were trained
in Attock, 130 in Okara, 122 in Faisalabad, 128 in Gujrat, 120 in Kasur,
130 in Muzaffargarh, 110 in Mianwali, 80 in Mandi Bahauddin, 130 in
Rahim Yar Khan, 98 in Rajan Pur, 130 in Sargodha and 98 in Sheikhupura.
The official said, these DTEs further imparted training to total 60,156
primary school teachers of their respective areas. According to him, out
of these teachers, 4,517 were trained in Attock, 5,152 in Okara, 3101 in
Faisalabad, 5,215 in Gujrat, 6,084 in Kasur, 5,052 in Muzaffargarh,
4,214 in Mianwali, 3,070 in Mandi Bahauddin, 9,117 in Rahim Yar Khan,
3,124 in Rajan Pur, 7,449 in Sargodha and 4,061 in Sheikhupura.
Yasir Pirzada further informed the media that DSD has been assigned the
task to train primary school teachers in the province so that they could
lend support to the continued reform process in the education sector.
Under the project, total 166,000 primary school teachers would be
trained in five years for which 2290 Cluster Training and Support
Centers would be established. The equipment worth Rs. 369,200 is being
purchased for every Cluster Center the monthly expenditure of which
would be Rs. 34,500, Pirzada said. |
