Private sector asked to contribute towards tourism promotion

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar Wednesday asked the private sector to join hands with the government to fully market immense potential in tourism sector.
Talking to APP, the minister said government was putting in more resources to promote tourism and, in this regard, she added a comprehensive marketing strategy had been devised to boost tourism products of the country both at home and abroad.
However, she said proactive contributions by the private sector would go a long way for making all these efforts a success.
The minister also urged media, opinion-leaders, actors, artists and other stakeholders to play their due role in promotion of tourism of the country.
She said the government would extend all out support to private sector in its efforts to launch ventures in tourism industry.
On Visit Pakistan Year 2007, Nilofar Bakhtiar said it would be a mega event, featuring a host of spectacular activities throughout the country.
The minister said for the first time Tourism Ministry had announced packages for students at fabulous attractions sites.
"We have written to the heads of educational institutions asking them to arrange trip of their students to these destinations in this summer to make use of our package," she remarked.—APP
