HEC to hold National Conference for University Faculty

ISLAMABAD—The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has planned to hold a
three day National Conference on “Professional Development of Teachers
at Higher Education in Pakistan’ from 16th to 18th January 2007, in HEC
auditorium, Islamabad.
The fundamental aim of this Conference is not only to highlight the
ignored and weak areas in the professional development of teachers at
tertiary level but also to strategically coup with them with the
intention for improvement in the ignored identified areas.
Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS, Federal Minister, Chairman Higher
Education Commission and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Science and
Technology will be the Chief Guest in the opening ceremony of this
National conference. Eminent research scholars, educationists and
administrative authorities of public and private sector universities
from all over the country will share their expertise with the
participants of the conference. Vice Chancellors, Deans, Directors of
Centres of Excellence, Pakistan Study Centres and Area Study Centres and
selected faculty members from public and private sector universities
across the country have been invited to attend the conference to share
their educational skills pertinent to the title of the Conference. The
HEC has specially invited local and international organizations i.e.,
DFID, UNFPA etc to attend the conference by their representatives.
The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) of the HEC has been made
responsible for striving hard to develop teaching skills of
university/postgraduate college teachers through providing one month
intensive in-service training opportunities to maximum teachers at their
doorsteps, across the country. For the purpose NAHE has organized a
number of training programmes for the faculty members of public and
private universities, degree awarding institutions and graduates and
postgraduate colleges of the country. |
