Eminent poet Munir Niazi passes away

LAHORE—Renowned poet Munir Niazi passed away Tuesday in Lahore. He was 79. He has written over 30 books of his poetry. His poetry has been translated into several world languages. Besides other awards, he was conferred the ‘Kamal-i-Fun’ award by the Pakistan Academy of Letters. He had also been awarded the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards by the government of Pakistan. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has expressed immense sense of shock and grief over the sad demise of renowned poet, Munir Niazi.
