Sanctions won’t hurt Iran ties: FO
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan on Sunday said that the UM nuclear related sanctions
against Tehran would not affect its relations with detouring Islamic
country.
The UN Security Council voted Saturday to slap curbs on Iran’s trade in
sensitive nuclear materials and technology, the move immediately
condemned by Iran as illegal and said it would not affect its peaceful
nuclear activities. “Pakistan is carefully analyzing the situation,”
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told a private TV channel. She
said Pakistan neither swapped any nuclear equipment with Iran nor did it
purchase or supply any type of nuclear material to that country as the
UN bans such practices.
The U.N. Security Council voted unanimously on Saturday to impose
sanctions on Iran’s trade in sensitive nuclear materials and technology,
in an attempt to stop uranium enrichment work that could produce
material to be used in bombs.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said those who backed the U.N. resolution,
drawn up by Britain, France and Germany but supported unanimously by the
Security Council.—Agencies |
