Firing on funeral leaves 4 dead

DERA ISMAIL KHAN—Army and FC troops have been called in Dera Ismail Khan after the deteriorating law and order situation in city over the killing of four persons in a firing incident over the funeral of Nazakat Ali Imrani, here in Eid Gah on Sunday.
Nizakat Ali Imrani, late Chairman MBA department Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan was killed on Saturday evening after he was returning from the University Convocation. On Sunday the situation in the city turned very tense, as some unknown gunmen opened fire on the funeral of Nazakat Ali Imrani in Eid Gah. As a result brother of Nazim of Village No 1 Imran Patti Bun, Kamran Patti Bun, Shahjahan Patti Bun, Amanullah Patti Bun and Mohammad Amin Alias Naeem Patti Bun , whereas six persons including father of the local Nazim Haji Allah Bux Patti Bun alias Baka Putti Bun were seriously.
District Nazim Haji Abdul Rauf has imposed section 144 in the city till December 29, Online has learnt.
Meanwhile, ASP Saddar Hamad Abid told Geo TV when for the final rites of the Nazakat Ali Imrani his corpse was taken to the Eid Gah graveyard, some unknown persons opened fire on the funeral killing four persons. He said police also arrested two suspects. He said security measures were adopted to avert any untoward incident.
He said the injured have been rushed to local hospital where they are provided medical assistance. Meanwhile Online correspondent reports that angry youngsters continued aerial firing and business centers in the entire city remained closed. The protesters also blocked traffic by burning tyres on the roads.
Army besides FC has been called in the city to control the situation. Major Irfan and Major Siraj are supervising the operation. At least four people were killed and three others sustained bullet injuries when unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a jinaza procession in cantonment area here, police said Sunday.—Agencies
