Sacrificial animals prices keep masses away from purchase
By Saad Ahmed
RAWALPINDI—Eidul Azha is about 7 days away but the purchase of
sacrificial animals still not got momentum due to high prices, shortage
and high demand of animals.
It has been observed that price hikes has made it impossible for the
poor to perform the ritual of sacrificing animals. Residents of the city
while complaining the high prices of animals said that the price of an
ordinary goat ranges between Rs7,000-12,000 and it is not possible for a
common man to buy animals. The sellers are demanding Rs. 12,000-25,000
for healthy-looking goats, they added while the demand of cow is ranging
from Rs. 25,000-100,000.
The people belonging to middle class of the society are giving
preference to ‘shared sacrifice’ for giving Rs. 3500 to 4500 to a number
of organizations as by doing this they can escape the hassle of buying a
sacrificial animal and then keeping it till Eid.
Inhabitants of city wile complaining the exorbitant prices of animals
opined that the Health Department and other concerned department have
also not taken any suitable sanitation arrangements. |
