Daniyal calls for end to political influence in LG system

ISLAMABAD—Chairman National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) Daniyal Aziz has underlined the need for elimination of political influence in the local government system.
"Today various Parliamentarians are using their powers and pressure for recruitment and promotion in different departments including in education", he stated this while addressing a national seminar here in local hotel on Saturday.
The national seminar to review the implementation on newly introduced reforms in different departments was organized by National Reconstruction Bureau and United Nations Development Project (UNDP).
President Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Raja Zulqernain, Chairman National Commission for Government Reforms Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Head of UNDP in Pakistan John Vinde Mortele and others delegates addressed on the occasion.
"We can achieve the target of good governance by ensuing implementation of reforms, as NRB has complete informative data of local governments, Daniyal Aziz added. Chairman NRB added that various ministries and departments are introducing E-governance in the country by launching websites.
NRB according to geographic information system has collected whole data including assets, buildings and others information of Union Councils and District Government, he added. Rules and regulations to depute bureaucrats at local body level would be changed while district management system in this regard are being introduced, he maintained.
The Chairman further noted that Members Provincial Assembly and Members National Assembly were using their powers in promotion and recruitments of teachers, it should be end.
Daniyal Aziz appreciated the efforts of UNDP for introducing reforms in different departments with collaboration of NRB.
Addressing on the occasion, Head UNDP in Pakistan John Vinde Mortele appreciated the local body system in the country, which was also appreciated by International Community. He stressed the need to include citizens of the country in making decision to achieve the target of good governance and real democracy in Pakistan.
He emphasized the need to introduce reforms in education; health and police departments on immediate basis while challenges are ahead to make the account system transparent. He vowed UNDP would continue its assistance in future to complete the agenda of reconstruction.
During the seminar, delegates throughout the world presented their point of view regarding the implementation on newly introduced reforms of NRB in different departments.
