NI conferred on Turkish Commander

ISLAMABAD—President General Pervez Musharraf conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz military on Commander of Turkish Land Forces General Ilker Basbug at a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr here Friday.
The award was conferred in recognition of General Ilker’s efforts in bringing about excellent relationship that existed between the armies ofPakistan and Turkey, their peoples and the respective governments. General Ilker has taken many initiatives to enhance close understandingbetween the two armies and played key role in furthering the interests of thetwo nations. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from Pakistan Army, air force and navy of both countries. Earlier, the Turkish Commander called on President General Pervez Musharraf. The President said Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed brotherly relations and had a long history of mutual support for each other’s principled causes. The President appreciated the contribution made by General Ilker in promoting understanding between the armies of two countries.—Agencies
