Sherpao opens computerized vehicle registration system

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao
inaugurated computerized vehicles registration system here on Friday.
Terming the launching of the computerized registration system as a great
achievement for Islamabad, Aftab Sherpao, said that all departments in
the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) would be gradually computerized.
Highlighting the features of the system, Sherpao said that
computerization of all vehicles in the ICT would help provide a complete
and standard database that could immediately provide basic information
of the registered vehicles to customers. “The computerized registration
system will check tempering and provide a foolproof system,” he added.
Sherpao said that the offices of ICT administration, revenue and police
were being computerized. Besides, he said, that work on installation of
security cameras in the federal capital was underway to providefoolproof
security to the citizens.
He said that roads were being extended and underpasses and overhead
bridges being built to solve traffic problems. “The government is
focusing on improvement of infrastructure,” Sherpao asserted.
The Interior Minister said that the ICT administration had been directed
to keep watchful eyes on prices of commodities during Eidul Azha and
Muharram, ensure provision of edibles at low price to the citizens
andprotect their life and property.
Earlier, chief commissioner Islamabad, Khalid Pervez, addressing the
reception said that about two hundred vehicles are registered daily in
Islamabad and about one lakh and ten thousands vehicles have so far been
registered under the computerized registration system. He said that
about 12.2 million rupees have so far been spent on the project. He said
that the computerized registration system issue printed registration
book with multiple security features. |
