Zebras, Lahore, Dolphins triumph in Twenty20 Cup

KARACHI—Karachi Zebras and Lahore Eagles got off to sterling start by winning their matches on the opening day of ABN AMRO Twenty20 Cup Cricket Championship on Thursday.
Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria took three wickets for 13 runs in four overs and playing as an opener, Asim Kamal enterprising 49 off 30 balls with eight 4s and a six as Karachi Zebras whipped Hyderabad Hawks by 52 runs at UBL Sports Complex.
Zebras put to bat first were restricted to 149 for nine in their 20 overs. Captain Hasan Raza cracked 43 in 0 balls with solitary six and four. Hawks in response could manage 97 for 9 in 20 overs. Taj Wasan topscored with 26 and Hanif malik got 22. Faisal Athar went for one.
At NBL Sports Complex ground, Lahore Eagles recorded a massive 80 runs success over Abbotabad Rhinos thanks to a quickfire 27-balls knock of 50 clobbered with five boundaries and brace of 6s. Aamir Sajjad scored 42 with four hits to the ropes. Kamran Akmal made an unbeaten 22 with one boundary.
Lahore Eagles collected 170 for six in 20 overs, after inserted to bat first. Abbotabad Rhinos crashed to 90 all out in 18th over. Paceman Junaid Zia took three wickets for five runs in four overs. Summarized scores:
