President stresses unity in PML ranks
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—President General Pervez Musharraf has said that the elements
opposed to enlightened moderation will have to face the failure and
defeat in future too adding these elements also opposed creation of
Pakistan, founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and national
poet Allama Iqbal.
“The retrogressive elements opposed moderation and enlightenment at
every critical juncture of the history but they faced the defeat always.
These elements will also have to face defeat in future as well. They the
elements who opposed creation of Pakistan and remained against
Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal”, he said this while addressing concluding
session of All India Muslim League Conference held here in connection
with centenary celebrations of Pakistan Muslim League.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, ruling PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat
Hussain, secretary general Mushahid Hussain Sayyed, chief ministers of
Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, members of parliament and PML workers
from other countries were also present on the occasion. President
Musharraf held Allama Iqbal made endeavors for creation of Pakistan and
Indian Muslims and got united under the dynamic leadership of
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Even then these extremist elements
kept on opposing Pakistan. But they could not face the committed and
resolute leadership of founding father of the country. Pakistan emerged
as independent and sovereign state on the world map.
He asserted that two nation theory was behind the creation of Pakistan
and no one can deviate from it. Pakistan had come into being in the name
of Islam and there is dire need that its true image is projected. No one
will be allowed to impose Islam of one’s free will, he cautioned.
Pakistan will be transformed into moderate, enlightened, progressive and
welfare Islamic state. The elements who will try to hamper this process
will have to meet failure.
Country’s future is very bright, he noted. We are committed for
resolution of problems facing the people. The present government
believes on resolution of problems rather than turning deaf ears to
them. We took several courageous steps and made difficult decisions in
this regard. But these all decisions were taken in the national interest
which would not be compromised. He announced that no law would be
enacted against Islam in the country. Those who are opposing Women
Protection Bill (WPB) are misleading the people. The bill is in
consonance with Quran and Sunnah. PML has played vital role in the
passage of this bill. He urged PML to forge unity in its ranks and make
full preparations to contest next general elections. The upcoming
elections are very critical for the future of Pakistan.
Pakistan is an emerging country in the comity of nations and its opinion
of attached much importance. We are fighting successful war against
terrorism and extremism and we will take it to its logic end. Pakistan
is also playing a key role for the establishment of peace in the region.
We want result oriented talks with India so that all the outstanding
issues including Kashmir issues are addressed. President General Pervez
Musharraf Thursday called for forging complete unity in the ranks of the
Pakistan Muslim League to prepare themselves to serve the people and for
country’s sustained socio-economic development.
