Eid-ul-Azha on 1st January

KARACHI—The Zilhaj moon has not been sighted in the country on Thursday and as such the Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on January 1.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-i- Hilal Committee, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, here on Thursday night. He chaired a meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee held here on Thursday at Habib Bank Plaza to decide about the sighting or otherwise of the Zilhaj Moon.
The Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal announced that the Zilhaj moon has not been sighted anywhere in the country on Thursday and that the first of Zilhaj will fall on December 23. The Eid ul Azha will be celebrated in the country on January 1, he added.
As the forthcoming Hajj falls on Friday, hence it will be the Hajj e Akbar. In Saudi Arabia, Supreme Judicial Council announced the first day of the lunar month of Zilhaj on December 21 (Thursday).
