‘Journalists to get ownership rights of PJHF before polls’

RAWALPINDI—Provincial Law Minister, Raja Basharat has assured the journalist of twin cities that they would be given ownership rights of the Punjab Journalists Housing Foundation (PJHF) before the next year’s polls.
He was speaking at the “application form distribution” ceremony held at Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club (RIPC) here on Wednesday. Among others, the function was attended by city district nazim, Raja Javed Ikhlas, Potohar town nazim, Hamid Nawaz Raja and journalists of the twin cities. Raja Basharat said that the dream of housing society was materialized after vigorous efforts and added that there had been many hurdles in its way. He congratulated journalists for being able to have their own home in the city.
He said, Punjab Chief Minister’s commitment of giving ownership rights of the land to journalists before next year’s polls will be fulfilled and added that journalists of Rawalpindi-Islamabad were lucky enough to get this right in a very brief time. The Law minister also announced that foundation stone for the construction of new press club in Rawalpindi will be laid soon and added that PC-1 of this project is nearing completion.
He said, the present government will successfully complete its tenure and stressed upon the media to expose those involved in negative propaganda. He said, “Media must discourage negative approach and make an impartial critical analysis to expose those involved in negative activities.” Later, the minister distributed application forms for the PJHF plots among journalists. The function was also addressed by RIPC Secretary, Muhammad Afzal Butt who demanded of the Law Minister to ensure underground electricity system in the housing foundation. Senior journalists, Aroosa Alam thanked the provincial minister and other notable guests and said that it was due to their efforts that the dream of “own house for journalists’ was materialized.”
