Traditional medical centres to be set up in FHI: Nasir

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Health, Muhammad Nasir Khan on Tuesday said traditional medicine centres will soon be set up in the Federal Health Institutions.
He was talking to the members of National Council of Homeopathy who called on him here on Tuesday. The Minister said that homeopathic treatment is a cost effective treatment and the Government sincerely wants to promote traditional system of medicine in the country.
He urged the members of the Council to improve their performance specially the standard of homeopathic education. He took a serious notice of un-ethical advertisement from certain homeopathic doctors in the print and electronic media claiming to cure the Hepatitis-C and other chronic diseases.
The minister urged the Council to constitute a committee to take action against homeopathic doctors who involve in such un-ethical advertisements. He told the participants that the Ministry of Health would not approve any advertisement without recommendation of the Council.
He proposed to formulate various committees, including committee for examination, committee for quality control of homeopathic medicine, committee for export of homeopathic medicines, committee to review the rules and regulations and committee to review the syllabus of homeopathic system of education.
He advised the Council to carry out research and in case of any need they can acquire the services of National Institution of Health for research purpose. The Council apprised the Minister of their problems and requested him for their resolution.
The Minister assured them of his full support to resolve their problems.
