Jirga summoned to enforce ceasefire

PESHAWAR—The Political administration of Khyber Agency has summoned FATA grand jirga for coming Thursday to arrange ceasefire between two rival groups in Tirah valley of the agency said a dispatch of APP Khyber Agency Correspondent. The decision to this effect was taken at a grand jirga of Afridi clan held here at Khyber House on Monday. It was attended by former minister of state Malik Waris Khan, Hajid Said Rehman, Malik Hindustan, Malik Sheen Akbar Malik, Duran Gul, Malik Muhammad Ali, councilors Hasham Khan, Haji Saqi, and Malik Zahir Shah Afridi. Addressing the jirga Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Ahmed Khan Orakzai and Assistant Political Agent Bara Attaur Rehman Orakzai urged the tribesmen to play their due role in halting the armed conflict between rival groups in Tirah valley. The administration would play the role of arbitrator, they added.They said, tribal elders were duty bound to rise to the occasion and end their inter tribes differences by thrashing out workable solutions and the government would fully support them in their endeavors towards this end. It observed that since a jirga under the leadership of Senator Hamidullah Jan Afridi is working to settle the matter therefore, no other jirga could interfere till the time any progress was made by the already established jirga.—Agencies
