Blocking Hasba Bill unconstitutional: Fazl
Bureau Report
PESHAWAR—MMA central leader Maulana Fazlur =Rehman has said Supreme
Court (SC) has bypassed the constitution by blocking Hasba Bill (HB)
adding apex court has no powers to suspend the bill.
He said this while talking to the journalists here Monday in chief
minister house after addressing a meeting of over 100 ulema. NWFP
government is an ideological government and takes all decisions within
constitutional parameters, he held. NWFP government is backed by popular
mandate and it will take decisions in keeping with the aspirations of
the people.
He went on to say MMA is facing no threat from Aiwan-e-Sadr adding
Aiwan-e-Sadr is however facing threat from Washington. Responding to a
question he said resignations issue no more exists. Federation wants MMA
tenders resignation and leave electoral fields so that it could pass
laws in support of Qadianis.
He was of the view that no interference was being made from Waziristan
in the affairs of Afghanistan. The Eid is not being celebrated on one
day due to the announcements of private Ruet-e-Hilal committees. The
NWFP Ulema have given several proposals in this respect. NWFP government
will decide the matter of Ruet-e-Hilal in the light of these proposals.
However central Ruet-e-Hilal committee should respect the decision of
provincial Ruet-e-Hilal committee. Secretary General Muttahida Majlis
Amal Maulana Fazl ur Rehman warning President Musharraf has said that
the President risks further radicalizing Pakistan if he alienates its
religious leaders.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman speaking to The Daily Telegraph in a rare
interview responded to General Pervez Musharraf’s plea for Pakistanis
not to vote for “hypocrites” and “extremists”. “With his poisonous
propaganda against the religious parties, General Musharraf is trying to
widen the gap between the religious circles and the liberals in the
country,” Maulana Fazl said. Maulana Fazl denying that his seminaries
are used by the Taliban as staging posts in their cross-border
activities, admitted that he directs his followers to support Taliban
fighters in Afghanistan by providing “humanitarian aid”. “We support
anyone who is struggling for the implementation of an Islamic
government,” he said, without specifying the type of assistance. During
the interview the Maulana accused Gen Musharraf of deceiving his allies
in the war against terror. “Dressed in uniform, the general is
championing the cause of democracy but the nations of the world take no
serious notice,” he said. “He has been fooling the Western world.”
“There can only be peace if foreign forces leave Afghanistan and the
Afghan government holds talks with the Taliban,” said the Maulana. “They
are the sons of the soil.”
MMA Secretary General and chief of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI) Maulana
Fazlur Rehman has issued a blunt warning to President Pervez Musharraf
that he risks further radicalizing the country if he alienates its
religious leaders. |
