POL prices to
stay till recouping deficit: PM

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minster Shaukat Aziz on Monday said the present
government wants the masses to benefit from declining prices of
petroleum products in international market but it is still facing Rs 15
billion deficit.
The prime minister, while talking to the newsmen, assured that as early
as deficit is recovered, the government will bring down prices of
petroleum products on no profit no loss basis.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Monday said that the government under the
banner of Muslim League was struggling for a vibrant, progressive and a
developed Pakistan.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of four-day International
Conference on All India Muslim League in Islamabad today in connection
with the centenary celebrations of Muslim League. President Pakistan
Muslim League Ch. Shujaat Hussain was also present on the occasion. The
Prime Minister said there is need to follow the principles of
Quaid-e-Azam who led valiant struggle and succeeded in achieving
Pakistan for the Muslims of sub-continent. He said we are proud of our
forefathers who made struggle for achieving Pakistan and they gave a
sense to build Pakistan in a new way where every one can live in peace
and harmony.
“We need unity, discipline and faith in our ranks to move forwards a
brighter future of our country,” he added. The Prime Minister said
Quaid-e-Azam, who belonged to a middle class, gave golden principles to
follow which ensure role of minorities, religious leaders, bureaucracy
and women for having a brighter future of the country.
He said despite all hazards, Pakistan is growing and now it is a nuclear
Pakistan on which no one can cast an evil eye. He said we know who to
defend our borders. He said Pakistan is a peace loving country but peace
cannot be achieved with strength.
To meet the present day challenges, Mr. Shaukat Aziz said most required
ingredient is unity which is also vital for safeguarding of our
integrity and sovereignty. He said economy and education are new fronts
of the day and we need to work hard to meet the challenges for leading
towards a progressive Pakistan.
He said discipline is also one of the ingredient for a bright future and
the nations which made progress have gone for meritocracy and
transparency. Turning to the present situation, the Prime Minister said
when we talks about Muslim League, we talk about the future of Pakistan
and the government is committed to lead the country towards the brighter
future of our masses.
He referred the agenda of President Pervez Musharraf and said during the
last seven years, “we have marched towards greater progress but we have
to do more for a developed Pakistan but for this purpose every one will
have to play his role.”
“We are moving towards right direction that will give us a better
future. He urged the people to rise to take Pakistan to its true
potential so that it can also lead the Muslim Ummah,” the PM added. Mr.
Shaukat Aziz said today Pakistan has a vibrant democracy and enjoys a
respectable position among the comity of nations and we are working with
dedication to make it a real Islamic, democratic welfare state. |
