Nobody can stop building KBD, says President

KHANEWAL—President General Pervez Musharraf has said he does not consider the so called champions of Islam and terrorists as Muslims adding these elements are misleading the people. “Pakistan is country of Muslims. It has been created in the name of Islam. No legislation has been made against Islam nor it will be made in future. The elements who are calling themselves champions of Islam are misleading people. I don’t consider the false champions of Islam and terrorists Muslims”, he said this while addressing a public meeting here Monday.
He held there is no room for suicide attacks and terrorism in Islam. People should perceive reality and beware of these elements. “ If I work for Islam and Muslim Ummah, people should support me”, he maintained. 2007 is election year, he reiterated. These elections will decide future of the country. If people want development, they should elect my associates in the elections.
“People are with me and I am with the people”, he asserted. The country can not make progress if we will not give empowerment and justice to our mothers and sisters. We only talk and don’t think with mind. The Muslims should think before talking about Islam. Unprecedented protection has been given to the women in Islam, he noted. We should do justice with them. The Women Protection Bill (WPB) will ensure justice to the women.
People should beware of those elements who are fomenting misconceptions in this respect. We should concentrate on the uplift of the women folk. People, minorities and women are being provided special care in the country.
He went on to say that God has not changed the condition of any nation which does not change its condition on its own. We have to make efforts to take the country forward. It is focus of our endeavours that the areas which were neglected in the past should be brought at par with developed areas, he reiterated. Our target is development but this objective will have to be achieved in all the provinces, he urged.
He cautioned country was passing through critical phase. Pakistan is set on the track to progress. We have achieved economic turnaround. Economy is progressing. Pakistan had never achieved economic development at such scale what it has achieved today. Loans for billion of rupees were obtained in the past for the construction of motorway which have become burden on national exchequer. However, we are laying network of roads, motorways, bypasses and underpasses. Air ports are being constructed.
“We are working out plans to overcome power shortage”, he remarked. Water reservoirs are being built to meet electricity demand. “We will construct Kalabagh dam by 2015”, he announced.
This dam will be constructed at all costs. No one can block this project . What I pledge I deliver. I need people cooperation for the development of country, he underlined.
Electricity will reach every village of the country by the end of next year, he reiterated. President also directed railway minister Sheikh Rashid and chief minister Punjab to give owner ship rights to the inmates of railway colonies.—Agencies
