Pak attaches great importance to its relations with Oman

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan attaches great importance to its existing fraternal relations with Oman and needs to further cement it, said Chaudhry Amir Hussain, Speaker National Assembly on Monday.
Talking to Mohamed Al-Lawati, Oman’s Ambassador to Pakistan who called on him at Parliament House on Monday afternoon Chaudhry Amir Hussain termed, Oman of the great strategic significance for Pakistan due to its geographic location.
Ch. Amir Hussain stressed for enhancing parliamentary ties with Oman through exchange of parliamentary delegation. He said that the existing cooperation in various fields should be further diversified for common advantage of both the countries. He specially appreciated the establishment of Pak-Oman Micro finance Bank at Karachi, which would significantly help in poverty eradication in Pakistan.
Speaker National Assembly appreciated Oman’s support extended for relief and rehabilitation of flood and earthquake affectees in Balochistan, AJK and NWFP. He also appreciated the assistance of Oman for construction of hospitals and schools in earthquake-affected area.
Ch. Amir Hussain expressed his concern over the human trafficking and said that law-enforcing agencies of both the countries should enhance cooperation to unearth the miscreant involved in this act. Similarly, Mohamed Al-Lawati, agreed for enhancing bilateral cooperation in fields of trade, education, scientific research, defence, shipping and health.
He appreciated the contributions of Pakistanis working in Oman in various fields. He assured the Speaker that Oman would welcome skilled labor from Pakistan. The Ambassador also expressed his government’s desire to enhance cooperation in development of Tourism in Pakistan.
