‘Peaceful Afghanistan in Pak interest’
NEW YORK—Rejecting the Afghan government allegations leveled against
Pakistan for supporting Taliban, the Pakistan permanent envoy to United
Nations, Munir Akram, has said that the neighbouring country should
focus attention over improving national security infrastructure instead
of raising finger over Pakistan for every incident.
Commenting on a report published in Washington Post, Munir Akram, said
that Pakistan wanted peace in Afghanistan. “Peaceful Afghanistan is in
the interest of Pakistan and the region as well,” he added. But
unfortunately, he said, the Afghan authorities accuse Pakistan to
conceal their failure.
He said that Pakistan had deployed 80000 troops on Pak-Afghan border to
check illegal movement across border and over 600 jawans have sacrificed
their lives in operations against the militants. He dispelled the
impression that Pakistan was supporting Taliban. Munir Akram said that
the Afghan refugees repatriation to their country would stop the blame
game of militants’ infiltration. He said that Pakistan wanted peace and
stability in the neighbouring country and prosperity of its
people.—Agencies |
