Parliament to be taken in confidence on Kashmir: Kasuri
KASUR—Foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said no decision on
Kashmir will be taken without the consent of parliament and cabinet. He
was addressing a public meeting in Baldia chowk here Sunday. Naib Nazim
Kasur, Haji Maqsood Sabir Ansari, Tehsil Nazim, Kasur Agha Naveed and
others also spoke on the occasion.
Foreign minister held solution to Kashmir issue will be found. Such a
solution will be evolved, which is in line with the aspirations of
people of Kashmir, he added. Besides Kashmiris, people of Pakistan have
also rendered sacrifices for Kashmir cause. Pakistan had shown wisdom
and prudence by making announcement for ceasefire as Kashmiris were
being killed on both sides. Cowards can never take potential decisions.
Difficult decisions are taken with courage. History remembers those who
take decisions in the interest of people in difficult time. The
statement given by Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh today has proved
that both Pakistan and India are making headway in their relations.
Earlier people used to say that only Pakistan is doing this unilaterally
and India is not responding. Manmohan Singh statement is a welcome move
on this count. What progress has been made in indo-Pak relations during
the last two and a half year has not been made during the last sixty
years.
The major powers urged that Pakistan should support war in Iraq, he
told. But Pakistan did not do so. Then it was said Pakistani troops are
moving to Iraq but they did not go there. “ I presided over UN security
council twice but decision of people of Pakistan remained indomitable
and we did not support war in Iraq”, he observed. Several countries
faltered on the issue of Iran, Pakistan, India gas pipeline, he said
adding Pakistan however did not waver. Kasuri indicated that when
Lebanon was being bombarded during the war only two foreign ministers
from Muslim countries including he and Malaysian foreign minister
visited Lebanon.
Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that Pakistan will not
accept any solution to Kashmir issue that was contrary to the wishes of
Kashmiris. Addressing a public meeting here on Sunday, he said that
Islamabad would continue its moral and political support to the people
of Kashmir, which had been rendering great sacrifices to librate their
homeland.
The minister said that President General Pervez Musharraf had taken
tough but better position on various matters especially the Kashmir
issue. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s response to Musharraf’s
proposals on Kashmir was the clear proof that we were being heeded
properly on this issue, he added.—Agencies |
