Re-polling of
election of SC Bar Association today
ISLAMABAD—The Re-polling of votes for election of different office
bearers and Members of Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar
Association is scheduled to be held today (Monday).
Timings of polling would be from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. with one hour
interval from 1.00 to 2.00 p.m. for Zohar prayer/Lunch.
The Re-polling of votes would be held on the basis of the final list of
eligible voters and the list of contesting candidates published by the
Supreme Court Bar Association for the purpose of the polling earlier
held on 31-10-2006. A copy of list of contesting candidates is enclosed.
To facilitate casting of votes by the voters/ Members of the Supreme
Court Bar Association, eight (8) Polling Stations each one at Karachi,
Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Bahawalpur, Abbottabad and Islamabad
have been established.
Learned Vice-Chairmen of Provincial Bar Councils will act as Presiding
Officers for the polling of votes on 18-12-2006 at Polling Stations at
principal seats of respective High Courts i.e. Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar
and Quetta whereas the learned Presidents of High Court Bar Associations
of High Court Benches at Multan, Bahawalpur, Abbottabad and Rawalpindi/
Islamabad will act as Presiding Officers at their respective places.
The Polling Stations will be established in premises of High Court Bar
Associations at respective places except for Rawalpindi/Islamabad
In Karachi the Polling Station will be in office of Sindh Bar Council,
High Court Building (Annexure) and in Rawalpindi/Islamabad it will be
established in the premises of the Supreme Court Bar Association,
Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Syed Qalb-i-Hassan, Returning Officer of Re-polling of election of
Supreme Court Bar Association has since already issued necessary
instructions to Voters, Candidates and the Presiding Officers in respect
of polling of votes on 18-12-2006 and has also dispatched Ballot Papers
and other necessary election material to all the Presiding Officers
throughout the Country.
The Election Committee constituted by Executive Committee of the
Pakistan Bar Council in terms of Rule 13 of the Supreme Court Bar
Association Rules, 1989 consisting of following Members, will oversee
the conduct of re-polling on 18 Dec includes Justice (Retd) Gul Zareen
Kiani, Advocate Rawalpindi, Justice (Retd) Amir Alam Khan Advocate
Lahore, Akhtar Ali Mahmood Advocate Karachi, Zafar Abbas Zaidi Advocate
Peshawar and Raja Muhammad Afsar Advocate Quetta.
The Official counting of votes will be held on Thursday, the 21st
December, 2006 at 10-00 a.m. in office of the Pakistan Bar Council,
Supreme Court Building, Islamabad. |
