Twists and turns continue in explosive probe

ISLAMABAD—Ministry of Interior has regretted that despite the findings of the investigation supervisory committee constituted by the NWFP government in concurrence of federal government the provincial government was willfully and wrongfully twisting the facts of the incident of throwing of explosive material in front of CM’s office by a Naib Qasid of Intelligence Bureau on 05 December 2006.
The ministry in a press release issued here Saturday stated that the recent response from NWFP government has come after the release of the report of the investigation committee comprising of Mohammad Sharif Virk, Joint Director General IB, Islamabad, Tariq Khosa Additional Director General FIA, Islamabad, Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema, Deputy Inspector General FIA, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Deputy Inspector General of Police Hazara Region, Abbottabad and Malik Mohammad Saad, DIG, Operation/Commandant FRP, NWFP, Peshawar, which is highly deplorable.
The committee in its findings has categorically ruled out any malafide on the part of the Intelligence Bureau. The committee made it clear that it was an individual act of a Naib Qasid of IB without any malicious intention as the explosive stick was without any fuse of detonator and that he threw it in the manhole during broad day light and that too in full view of the police constables standing near by on duty. The committee ruled out any chance of sabotage or act of terrorism ad has recommended the removal of section 7 of ATA, which was added to the FIR as an after thought to enhance the gravity of offence.
The committee further concluded that the matter was blown out of proportion without professionally enquiring or investigating the case. The federal government expects that apropos to the findings of the inquiry, controversy should come to an end and that the matter should not be sensationalized or dramatized.—Online
