Zobaida Jalal receives LIDU award

ISLAMABAD—Italian League for Human Rights (LIDU) a non- government organization conferred a Special Award on Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education, Mrs. Zobaida Jalal in recognition of her services rendered for the protection of Human and Social rights.
The award was conferred at a ceremony organized by LIDU in Rome the other day on the occasion of the National Day of Human Rights of Italy, said a press release here Saturday.
LIDU, a non governmental organization for the defence of Human rights is accredited in United Nations, UNESCO and Council of Europe.
Traditionally, LIDU has given an annual award, called the “Paolo Ungori Prize”, to an Italian Citizen with a distinguished record of public service. This was the first time that LIDU has recognized the services of a non- European citizen in the field of human and social rights and chose Mrs. Zobaida Jalal for the services in the field of Education for all and Social protection. Another achievement of Mrs. Jalal was the Honorary fellow Award fromCommon Wealth of learning (COL) conferred last month in recognition of hercontribution in the field of education of girls and women in Pakistan.
Her involvement in global educational matters through UNESCO and ECOSOC was highly appreciated through conferment of this award.
The award ceremony was attended by parliamentarians, academia, civil society, think tanks, cultural organizations, legal profession, students, and media persons. This recognition will project soft Image of Pakistan and its female population.
