Aysia drives Mardan to win NBP Inter Regional Girls Cricket trophy

PESHAWAR—Opener Aysia Noor drove Mardan Region to stun Peshawar in the final of the NBP Inter-Regional Girls Cricket Championship played at Lady Griffith School ground here on Thursday.
Aysia Noor with the support of no. 3 batter Asma Tehseen hammered some cracking boundaries that enabled Mardan to pile up 134 runs for the loss of six wickets after playing the allotted 25 overs. Both Aysia Noor and Asma provided a solid 69 runs stand for the third wicket. Aysia struck 42 off 23 balls with five boundaries and a six and Asma made 27 runs with three boundaries. Rabia (22), Nomi Ali (19) and Samina (14) runs and were the other high runs takers. Thus Mardan setup 134 runs for the loss of six wickets. For Peshawar Khadija, Khar-ul-Nisar and Sidra got two wickets each. In reply, host Peshawar Region bowled out for 113 runs after playing 22.2 overs. Only Nadia (30) off as many balls with three boundaries, Farah (28), Sobia and Shaqat (19) runs each were the main contributors, none of the other batter cross the double figures.
For Mardan Saira and Sana got three wickets each while Asma and Asia Noor got two wickets each. Thus Mardan defeated Peshawar by 21 runs in the final. Member HR Sofi Gul of the National Bank of Pakistan was the chief guest on this occasion and gave away trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up players. NBP also handed over a checque of Rs. 1 lackh to the Directress for the organization of the event for female players.
The players of both Mardan and Peshawar Regions were also introduced to her. Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Directress NWFP Women Sports Board, international footballer of NBP sports representative Basit Kamal and large number of female spectators were also present.
