Sambhavna is actor & item girl too
From Noreen Aslam
BOMBAY—Sambhavna Seth is hot; she is an actor as well as an item girl.
Seth who visited New Delhi. The Smashits team met with her and asked her
how great she feels when she is addressed as an item girl. This is to
recall that recently she gave mind-blowing item number in Subhash Ghai’s
‘36 China Town’. But her dream role is in ‘Umrao Jaan’.
Excerpts from the interview:
Do you have any problem in being termed as an ‘item girl’?
Of course, not. That’s what I do, and that is what I am good at. I am
especially good in dancing and that is the reason why I am being signed
up for such special numbers. What’s to be ashamed of? As long as I am
willing to do item numbers I don’t mind people calling me an ‘item
girl’. However, I would like to move on and take up good roles in films
as that would be a natural progression.
Do your parents support you being an item girl?
Initially, they did not support me but ever since my childhood I have
always wanted to be in the film industry. I did not know what I would do
in film industry but from day one I knew I will be part of this industry
and here I am. I am really proud of being here and now my parents also
support me.
How did you bag Subhash Ghai’s ‘36 China Town?
I had met him seven to eight months ago, and then they saw my show in
Ahmedabad. I guess the clincher was my recent music video ‘Aaj kal tere
mere pyaar ke’. He didn’t tell me much about the film because it is a
murder mystery, just that Shaahid and Kareena would be playing the lead,
and I would be playing a club dancer opposite Upen Patel. They did say
that besides an item number, I would also have a few scenes in the film.
What have you done so far?
I have acted in Telugu movies and also done item numbers in films
starring Nana Patekar (‘Wadh’), Ajay Devgan (‘Zameer), and Jai Prakash’s
‘Sauda’, besides others. I have also done music videos and performed to
my songs on shows with Johnny Lever.
Which is your dream role?
I wish to play ‘Umrao Jaan’. I simply love that character. I wish I
would get to play ‘Umrao Jaan’. Let’s hope some director plans to make
it again in future and I get the role.
What are your upcoming movies?
My forthcoming movies are ‘Kaafila’, ‘Koi Hai Aas Paas’, ‘Papu Paas Ho
Gaya’, ‘Anth - the War’, ‘Ek Haseena Ek Deewana’, ‘Riwaaz’ and ‘Karar’.
I have lots of expectations from ‘Kaafila’. It’s really close to my
heart.
Who is your idol?
Madhuri Dixit and Helen ji are my idols. And I also dream to work with
Rekha ji and Shah Rukh Khan.
If not acting and dancing, what would have been your alternate field?
If not acting and dancing, I would have surely been a Police Officer.
But my parents never supported me for that.
What do you do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family. I am not fond of going out for
parties; I am a very family person. I love playing with my dogs.
In another five years, where do you see yourself?
A good actor and later in life I will open up a dance school. I want to
teach dance, it’s my passion.
Which is your dream banner?
I have worked with Mukta Arts; it was one of the dream banners. I wish
to work with Ram Gopal Varma. I want to do serious and good roles. |
