Governor
welcomes SC decision
PESHAWAR—NWFP Governor Lt. Gen. (retd) Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai has
welcomed the Supreme Court decision of staying Hassba Bill, 2006, from
being enact in the Frontier Province as a “right decision”.
“The Supreme Court- while pursuing the President’s writ had maintained
its previous verdict on Hassba Bill and had asked him not to sign it,”
he told newsmen, after attending the annual event of Red Crescent
Society on Friday. The Governor said the Apex Court had the power to
declare certain provisions of the bill as unconstitutional and stopping
him from ratifying it. In the same breath he said that it was not first
time that Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai had leveled allegations
against Pakistan, however, he expressed the hope that the balm game
would not affect the process of initiation of Pak-Afghan joint Grand
Jirga to restore peace in the war-shattered country. Referring to Karzai
allegations, he said that it was not something new as Afghanistan
president had been levelling allegations on Pakistan for the last five
years.—Agencies |
