Saifullah hints at blocking Hasba Bill

PESHAWAR—Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Salim Saifullah Khan has asked the MMA leadership to adopt national approach and join hands with the government in making Pakistan a prosperous and developed country.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday at his residence, the Federal Minister said that leaders of religious alliance are focusing their attention on non-issues and avoiding real problems which are being face by masses and were required to the resolved.
He said opposition to Women Protection Bill by MMA leaders and the threat of tendering resignation is a political gimmick to hoodwink masses. The alliance leaders, he continued, had supported the passage of 17th amendment for extending their stay in parliament.
However, Salim Saifullah, hastened to add, some saner elements within the MMA wanted to debate the issue in parliament and are against resignations. He said the Women Protection Bill is in accordance with Shariah and elements opposing the bill have the right to approach courts against its contents. He said government cannot pass any bill which is against the injunctions of Islam.
