Razzaq may
lead as Inzi doubtful in 4th ODI
MULTAN—Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq says, his team will try to win
both the remaining one day internationa (ODI) matches to clinch the
series 4-0 but admitted West Indies was a strong side and his boys would
have to do a lot of hard work to register a white wash in the ODIs.
“We have called Shahid Afridi and Faisal Iqbal due to absence of Younis
Khan and Muhammad Yousuf in the fourth ODI at Multan, however, a final
decision would be taken in the evening”, said Inzamam who himself was
suffering from a finger injury and would decide to play or not to the
4th ODI on Wednesday morning before the day and night match at Multan.
“We will try to win all the matches but West Indies was a strong side
and we had a close fight with them. Boys will have to work hard if they
want to go for a white wash.” Inzamam said that his team will try to
make the 4th ODI a series-decider on Multan turf that looks like a
batting paradise.
“It will be a high scoring match for the turf looks drier than Lahore
pitch.” Inzamam said, his team will undergo rigorous sessions of
practice to perform better in the forthcoming tour to South Africa where
conditions were different than at home. “We will try to adjust to the
conditions there.”
Inzamam said, his team has performed better under tough conditions and
added, “Inshallah, we will do it again in South Africa.” When asked
whether the pacer Rao Iftikhar Anjum had any trouble for he was walking
with difficulty after the practice session at Multan Cricket Stadium,
Inzamam said, “It was a minor trouble, Rao is all right.”
All rounder Abdul Razzaq will lead the Pakistan cricket team in the
fourth one day international (ODI) at Multan if Inzamam ul Haq opts out
of the ODI due to finger injury on Wednesday.
“My injury has improved but I will take the final decision on
Wednesday”, said Inzamam at a press conference at Multan Cricket Stadium
after a practice session. Inzamam had three stitches on the little
finger of his left hand after receiving injury in the third ODI at
Lahore while stopping a strong drive from Marlon Samuels at covers.
“Abdul Razzaq will lead the side if I decide not to play the ODI at
Multan.” Meanwhile, both teams had a practice session in the nets after
spending over an hour in physical exercises and playing football and
handball. Pakistan lead the five-match ODI series 2-0.—Agencies |
