ISLAMABAD—Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), in collaboration
with Government College University, will be organizing an inter
university drama competition in spring 2007.
To be held in Lahore, this firstever event of its kind envisages the
talent hunt among school, college and university level students with
special reference to their creative aptitude and artistic pursuits.
Naeem Tahir, Chief Executive and Director General PNCA said Tuesday that
this competition has been conceptualized in the light of President
General Pervez Musharraf’s vision of enlightened moderation.
“It is for grooming up the innovative and creative potentials of our
young generation that the PNCA has chalked out many-tier composite plan
of action,” he said. Naeem said the council has already been engaged in
imparting training and coaching through a variety of events in areas of
performing and visual arts and allied segments.
“The outcome of such activities could be seen in numerous budding
artists at school and college levels who are simultaneously keeping
themselves alive with their usual curricular studies and learning and
performing their skill in different fine arts of their choice as well,”
he added.
As a by-product of such engagements, he said, our new generation
develops the characteristics of capacity building and self confidence.
The inter university drama competition spring 2007 at Lahore is yet one
step forward in this direction. The winning theatre groups will be
invited to perform in Islamabad in front of national and international
celebrities and diplomatic personalities in an endeavor to promote soft
image of our national heritage through our talented young generation.
There are over a 100 universities, both in private and public sectors
reflecting availability of massive quantum of creative potentials among
our gifted youth. The activity will also help encourage our youth in
learning more, excel in curricular and extra curricular activities
particularly in art and literature and promote healthy sense of
competition. |
