Pak, China wargames start today

RAWALPINDI—A contingent of the Peoples Liberation Army arrives here Friday at PAF Base Chaklala to participate joint exercises “Friendship -2006”.
The ten day long exercises, starting on December 11, are aimed at strengthening the existing bonds of friendship between armies of the two countries, said an ISPR press release issued here on Sunday. The exercise will be second of its nature, while the first exercise was held in China in the year 2004. The focus of exercises will be to mutually benefit from each others experience in planning and conduct of anti-terrorist operations. It is worth mentioning here that it will be for the first time that troops from Peoples Liberation Army will carry out joint exercises in Pakistan. A flag hoisting, ceremony will also be held to mark the beginning of the joint exercises. High level delegations from both the countries are expected to visit the exercise area during the conduct phase to witness the joint exercises.
