Easy sailing for British Open Jr Champ Nasir in CAS Squash

PESHAWAR—Easy sailing for British Junior Open Champion Nasir Iqbal in the Chief of the Air Staff Junior Open Squash Championship being played at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex here on Saturday. Favorite for the Under-13 title Nasir Iqbal, who is also winner of Malaysia Junior Open and gold medallist of the German Open, took no time in
\ outclassing first qualifier Mehmood Mehboob by 9-1, 9-1 and 9-3 in one-sided affairs and took berth into the quarter-finals.
Ali Nasir, another promising squash player upset Hammad Fariq in the first round by 3-0, the score was 9-0, 9-2 and 9-4 and reached to the quarter-finals. Danish Rasheed Rasheed beat Rizwan Gul by 3-1, the score was 1-9, 9-4, 9-0 and 9-0, second qualifier Ali Bukhari defeated Nouman Zaman by 9-6, 9-3, 5-9 and 9-5, Saad Shahid beat third qualifier Salmanzeb in the thrilling five sets battle lasted for 52nd minutes.
The score was 5-9, 3-9, 9-4, 9-1 and 9-3. Bilal Zakir, Arshalan Bhatti and Nimatullah also secured victories against their respective rivals Sulimar Jaffari, Omer Bilaj, and Moin Rauf in straight sets. Under-11: Apart from a thrilling five-set match between Asim Khan and Shoaib Khan all the other matches decided in one-sided affairs. Asim Khan took the first two sets by 9-7 and 9-7 failed to click in the third and fourth sets won by Shoaib Khan by 8-10 and 4-9. Asim got the last set by 9-7. Muhammad Tayyab Aslam beat Arif Gul by 3-0, Noman Shahid beat Faizanullah by 3-0, Mansoor Jan beat first qualifier Waheed Khan by 3-0, Adil Faqir beat Farhan Ghulam by 3-0, Iqtidar Khan and Fahim Gul beat Haroon Khan and Arbab Aziz while Zeeshan Javed beat Shoaib Habib.—Agencies
