Pakistan crash India in World Cup for blind

ISLAMABAD—The defending champions Pakistan thrashed India by 183 runs to chalk up their third straight victory in the 3rd cricket World Cup for the Blind on Saturday.
In two other matches of the day, England whipped West Indies by nine wickets at PAF Ground, E-9, while Australia overcame Sri Lanka by three wickets at Shalimar Cricket Ground. At F-9 Park Ground, Pakistan were all out for a massive 363 in the 40th over, after being asked to bat first, and then shot out India for 180. For Pakistan, the chief scorers were Muhammad Akram (101) and Aamir Ashfaq (58) with Rajinder Verma grabbing two wickets for India.
Rajinder Verma also top-scored for India with a fine knock of 34 while Shekhar Naik hit 28 for the visitors. Aamir Ashfaq and Noor Qureshi got two wickets each for Pakistan as Muhammad Akram won the man-of-the-match award for his blistering 101. At PAF Ground, West Indies innings collapsed for 127 in 30 overs with D.O. Shim providing the best knock of 56 for the Caribbean side and Englishman Reynolds grabbing two wickets. England got to the target of 128 in the 19th over for the loss of just one wicket as Nathan Fae made 72 not out to belt the man-of- the-match award while Laksig contributed 27. In the third match of the day, Sri Lanka batted reasonably well to post 231 in 40 overs but Australia overhauled the target in the 38th over with three wickets still standing.
Peter Kirstenson was the key to Aussie success story with his 94 while Heider made 59 but Sri Lankan Chandana Kumara walked away with man-of-the-match award for his bowling exploits of five wickets for 28 runs. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Ijazul Haq, distributed awards.—Agencies
