TomKat to have post-wedding party
From Natalie Finn
LOS
ANGELES—No Roman holiday, no problem. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are
throwing a post-wedding bash this weekend in honour of the people close
to them who were unable to jet off to Italy a few weeks ago to watch
them tie the knot.
The reception will take place Saturday at the Los Angeles home of
Cruise’s long-time producing partner, Paula Wagner, and her husband,
Rick Nicita, Cruise’s rep, Arnold Robinson, confirmed. Since being
booted from the Paramount lot, Cruise and Wagner have joined up with MGM
to revitalize United Artists, giving them the freedom to develop and
greenlight projects at will (if the money’s there, of course).
No word on whether Oprah Winfrey has been included on the guest list for
this leg of the TomKat nuptials. Or John Travolta and Kelly Preston, for
that matter, who were said to have received an invitation but were
no-shows in Rome.
Cruise and Holmes touched down in the U.S. Dec. 1 after spending two
weeks chillin’, honeymoon-style, on the yacht of Aussie media mogul
James Packer and at the five-star Kurumba Resort on a private island in
the Maldives.
The duo made it official Nov. 18 at a medieval castle in Bracciano,
Italy, reportedly sealing the deal with a three-minute kiss while
surrounded by 150 of their nearest and dearest, including Will Smith and
Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, David and Victoria
Beckham, Brooke Shields, Jenna Elfman and Leah Remini. Victoria Beckham,
in L.A. for a photo shoot this week, met with a newlywed Holmes (with
seven-month-old Suri in tow) on Monday to reminisce about their recent
Italian adventure.
“They talked about how great the wedding was,” a friend of the British
singer told People magazine. Up next for Cruise is the UA-financed Lions
for Lambs, playing a congressman whose life becomes intertwined with a
journalist, played by Meryl Streep. Robert Redford also stars in and is
directing the film, Cruise’s first project since he and Wagner took over
UA.
