Support to Kashmir cause will continue: PM

LAHORE—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Kashmir cause saying his country wanted peaceful and negotiated settlement of Kashmir dispute.
Talking to newsmen after addressing the First International Conference `The Other Self: Conflict, Confusion or Compromise’, organized by the National Commission on the Status of Women the Prime Minister Pakistan has always supported Kashmiri people and it will continue full support to their just rights. “We wanted peace in the region and negotiated settlement of all the outstanding issues with India and Kashmir issue is at the top of our agenda,” said Shaukat Aziz.
The Prime Minister told newsmen that Pakistan wanted a solution of Kashmir dispute which is acceptable for the people of Kashmir. “We share the same blood and we will always continue our support to the people of Kashmir,” he vowed. Calling upon India to express positive attitude for the settlement of all outstanding issue including Kashmir, he said the present Pakistani government has expressed more than ever flexibility towards negotiated settlement of outstanding issues with India. Shaukat Aziz pledged that ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) would take its allies along for the collective welfare and betterment and hoped that matters with MQM would be settled amicably.
The Prime Minister however said in democracy every political party has complete freedom to have its own opinion on certain issues. Pledging the present parliament would complete its constitutional term, the Prime Minister said League would contest next elections, along with its coalition partners. The Prime Minister was hopeful to say that they would be successful in the next elections on the basis of what they have contributed in the development and socio-economic uplift of the country.
“The completion of the 5-year term by the assemblies for the first time in the history of the country has strengthened the democratic system, and the masses will reap its benefits”, he added. He said the PML believes in consultation with the allies on all important issues and will take them along for the collective welfare and betterment.
