Mega sports projects to be completed next year, says DG Sport
PESHAWAR—Director General NWFP Sports Board and former test cricketer,
Maazullah Khan has said that the the mega sports projects funded by the
federal government would be completed by early next year.
The completion of 15 projects would provide international standard
sports facilities to the sportsmen at the district level, Maazullah in
an interview with APP here Wednesday.
In addition to othr sectors, President General Pervaiz Musharraf, gave
top priority to promotion of sports. The sports projects would enable
the districts to hold international events of various games, Maazullah
added.
Giving break up of the projects, he said, more then 15 mega projects
costing Rs.141.838 million are currently under progress in NWFP.
Rs.101.838 millions projects are in progress in districts Dir Upper. Dir
lower, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Charsadda, Mardan, Hangu, Lakki Marwat,
Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and provincial capital Peshawar, he disclosed.
The Federal government has released the funds for these projects, he
added.
Out of the total fifteen projects, 11 included laying the synthetic
hockey turf at Kabal, District Swat at a cost of Rs. 35 million. The
projects at Swat also included construction of Football and Cricket
