MQM delegation meets Indian leaders
NEW DELHI—Leader of MQM delegation Dr Farooq Sattar Wednesday urged the
Indian political leadership to ensure “irreversibility” of the Indo-Pak
peace process to rope in peoples’ confidence and trust towards solution
of outstanding bilateral issues including Kashmir dispute. Addressing at
the media event organized by Press Club of India here, Deputy Convener
of Mutihida Quami Movement (MQM) and leader of Parliamentary Party in
the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar hailed the four-point formula
proposed by President Pervez Musharraf and added that this would help
pave the path for the lasting solution to vexed issue of Kashmir.
Flanked by other members of the delegation including two MNAs and three
MPA from Sindh, Dr Sattar told a questioner that the solution to Kashmir
problem was possible by showing flexibility and the four-point formula
suggested by President Pervez Musharraf was step forward in that
direction. To a query, he said liberal, progressive and moderate forces
had to play an important role in the promotion of bilateral ties and
bonhomie. The hawkish elements are on both sides but progressive forces
should not be found wanting in playing their important role, he added.
The matter pertaining to Joint anti-terror Mechanism was discussed at
the recently held Foreign Secretaries-level talks.
