NA body calls for inclusion of 2 MPs in PSFD’s BoG

ISLAMABAD—National Assembly Standing committee on Commerce has expressed
dissatisfaction over the formation of Board of Governors of Pakistan
School of Fashion and Design and recommended that two members of the
Parliament may also be included in the School’s Board of Governors.
A meeting of the Standing Committee was held on Wednesday in
theParliament House under the Chairmanship of Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan to
discuss the promulgation of Ordinance on Trade Development Authority of
Pakistan (TDAP) and formation of the Broad of Governors of Pakistan
School of Fashion and Design Lahore.
The committee was informed that TDAP would be a pro-active
institutionwhich will work for the development and promotion of export,
yielding maximum benefits at international level.
It was further told that it would be an autonomous body
functioningindecently both in its administrative and financial spheres.
The chairman TDAP informed that 10 persons from private sectors have
been included in its Board of Directors in addition to senior government
officers.
The committee recommended that two members of the parliament be included
in EXPO Steering Committee.
The Committee was informed that Pakistan School of Fashion and
DesignLahore would work under the Ministry of Commerce but would be
regulated through Higher Education Commission.
The committee expressed dissatisfaction over the formation of Board
ofGovernors of Pakistan School of Fashion and Design and recommended
that two members of the Parliament may also be included in the School’s
Board of Governors.
Tahira Asif, Afsar Begum, Rana Tariq Javed, Farhan Latif, Kashmala Tariq,
Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, attended the meeting. |
