Badminton Federation starts youth coaching
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Badminton Federation has launched a special training
programme for teens to promote healthy sport activities at the
grassroots level.
This was stated by the vice president of the federation Saima Batool
while talking to APP here on Monday.
She said under this talent hunt programme to explore the hidden
potential in youth, especially the girls, young students, between 12 to
18 years of age, from various colleges and schools are given Badminton
and Table Tennis training at Repose Club, Iqbal Hall.
Upcoming table tennis player Nazia, 12, has recently topped in the compe
titions held under the aegis of Table Tennis Federation while Dania Bibi
defeated Nadia in the final of Inter Board Badminton Tournament held at
Bahawalpur to capture the title, she informed.
Saima Batool said that Repose Club also offers training in swimming and
basketball. Expert psychologist Murtaza Bodla and doctor Saeed Khan
provide twice a month treatment to the under-training players, she said.
The club coaches include Tahir Ishaq and Syed Maratab Husain.—Agencies
