NCHD observes International Volunteer Day
KARACHI—On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, National
Commission for Human Development (NCHD) marked the event by displaying
banners, holding walks and seminars. A statement issued here on Tuesday
said that the volunteers were given shields and certificates in district
Thatta, Badin, Naushehroferoz, larkana, Ghotki, Sukkur. It said that
addressing various events held in Sindh, Sohail Rajput, Hafeez Umerani,
Imtiaz Bhatti, Naeem Chandio, Abdul Shakoor Shaikh, Shohaib Habib Memon,
said that in Pakistan’s milieu, volunteerism not only considered a
socio-cultural norm but is also seen as a religious obligation. It is
this passion for volunteering which NCHD harnesses as volunteers only
reward is their acknowledgement so today let us take some time to
reflect, value and acknowledge the services of volunteers, they added.
The speakers stated that the National Commission for Human Development
is working to promote human development in Pakistan since 2002 and added
that NCHD works to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development
Goals particularly related to primary education and health care through
the participation of volunteers.—Online
